Whether it be a small family get-together or a large birthday/engagement party, The Bowlo & Black Duck Bistro would love to help you host your next event. We offer a stunning location, with majestic ocean and escarpment views, friendly staff + parking that is close to trains and buses.
The Bowlo is a highly memorable venue, imagine like stepping back in time to an original 1960's coastal Aussie bowling club, complete with psychedelic carpet, timber honour boards and the relaxed vibe of yesteryear. We're 100% original, not some retro fake, so with our incredible location comes a few rough edges, its all part of the experience.
Our outdoor areas comprise of a barefoot bowling green, for bowls or other yard games (all ages friendly), a rambling beer garden with tables, bench seats, festoon lights and heaters, and a large marquee for dancing, performances, and weather protection. The Black Duck Thai is highly experienced in catering events large and small and offers a well-priced catering menu comprised of its famous Thai entrees and dishes, canapés, or Australian pub food, all available in catering-sized platters. (7 days notice for platters)
Specific areas can be booked and cordoned off for a modest fee, and the outdoor Tinny Bar or a private minibar can be booked for special events and large parties.

Barefoot bowls are available in 2-hour time slots of either 12-2pm, 2-4pm, 4-6pm, or 6-8pm in the summer. Click here to book one or more lanes with up to 6 people per lane.

Table Bookings <20
If you’re just looking to secure a group table for up to 20 people, you can book online now; however, we can only hold a table for 30 minutes from your start booking time. and online bookings close 12 hours before; otherwise, we welcome walk-ins. Your table can be booked for 4 hours at a time; after this time, if no other booking requires your table, you will be free to stay as long as you like; however, if your table is booked by another party, we kindly ask that you move to another free area of the club.
Bands, Community Events & Mini Festivals
We also hosts Gigs for popular bands, community events like the Coal Coast Record Fair & markets, + mini festivals, like Get Together and Lets Go Dancing we have a capacity of up to 450 people. Try our beautiful coastal location close to Sydney and Wollongong for your next promoted event.
